Playing games is fun - but sometimes, it can be work
Everyone at Milk Can has a passion for tabletop gaming. From board games, roleplaying games, miniature wargaming, and collectible card games - we get it. Unfortunately, what we don’t have is time. Finding other players or groups with similar interests to try new games or play games we already have can be a hassle. Enter the creation of GameFor.
The main idea we wanted to reimagine was the "looking for players" bulletin board at the back of every friendly local gaming store - index cards and scraps of paper with the phone numbers of players looking for other players for their Dungeons & Dragons party or Warhammer league. This led us down a path of trying to help those gaming stores - the backbone of the gaming community - find ways to attract players and customers.
Helping to automate gaming event listings for stores - allowing owners and employees to move away from problematic sites like Facebook and Google Calendar - was another big push in the GameFor feature set for both mobile and web.
And so it went, adding feature after feature: store finder, convention finder, in-app messaging - all to connect tabletop gamers.
