That Conference is a technical conference held annually at the Kalahari Resort in the Wisconsin Dells. After the fourth year without a sound mobile solution, Milk Can partnered with That Conference to make sure their fifth conference would meet their attendee's expectations.
Improving attendee’s experiences required solving two key needs. They needed to be able to schedule their personal experience from over 100 different sessions before they arrived, and then to be able to quickly navigate to their sessions and modify their schedule throughout the conference.
The That Conference App was built using native development. This provided a solid foundation to allow the applications to use the newest features and technologies now and in future versions. It also provided a cleaner and faster environment for the amount of data that was being served to each user.
Each platform was built with a custom interface to match the design guidelines. This provided the user a familiar interaction experience traditional to their device choice.
One of the things that sets That Conference apart from other technical conferences is the inclusion of families. This combined with the strong value placed on community has lead to strong friendships and bonds created each year. Just like returning to summer camp every year, attendees welcome back friends from the previous years and make new ones.
We decided to expand on the summer camp theme and provide a full user engaging photobooth that paired with the That Conference app to allow attendees to share retro camping post cards in social media.
The That Conference app used Fabric.io libraries to capture real time user analytics and behaviors before and during the conference. The usage data can now be used by the team to help determine any changes or improvements that are needed for next year’s version.
The That Conference app may have been new this year, but it is already considered a crucial part of the conference experience.
